The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, launched on May 15, 2024, features a sleek design with dimensions of 161.1 mm in height, 72.4 mm in width, and 8.6 mm in depth. It weighs 197 grams. The phone is constructed with a 3D curved glass screen, offering a frameless design and an oleophobic coating for fingerprint resistance. It's available in three colors: Peach Fuzz, Forest Grey, and Nordic Wood. The build is not foldable, maintaining a standard monoblock form factor.

Display

The device boasts a 6.7-inch P-OLED display with a resolution of 1220 x 2712 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 446 ppi. The screen supports 1 billion colors, a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and can achieve a peak brightness of 2500 nits. The contrast ratio is 5,000,000:1. Other features include a 360Hz touch sampling rate, DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, a 10-bit panel, and DisplayPort 1.4 support. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and has a hole-punch notch design for the front camera. It is also SGS certified.

Performance

The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 (4 nm) chipset. The CPU is an octa-core configuration consisting of 1x3.0 GHz Cortex-X4, 4x2.8 GHz Cortex-A720, and 3x2.0 GHz Cortex-A520 cores. Graphics are handled by the Adreno 735 GPU. The phone offers LPDDR5X RAM with either 12 GB or 16 GB options, paired with 512 GB or 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage, respectively. It scored 1,523,879 on the AnTuTu v10 benchmark. The phone does not have a microSD card slot.

Camera

The front-facing selfie camera utilizes a 50MP Samsung S5KJN1 sensor with a f/1.9 aperture and 0.64µm pixel size (1-4 binning).

Camera features include 4K video recording at 30 and 60fps with HDR and EIS, along with various 1080p recording options at different frame rates (including slow motion up to 960 fps), optical image stabilization (OIS), phase detection autofocus (PDAF), dual LED flash, and a 120° field of view for the ultrawide lens. The camera also supports 30x hybrid zoom, 100x digital zoom, RAW capture, night mode, and various scene modes. The phone achieved a DXOMARK Mobile main score of 146 with photo and video sub-scores of 150 and 134, respectively.

Battery Life

The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is equipped with a 4500 mAh Li-Polymer battery. It supports 125W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Reverse wireless charging at 10W is also available. The battery is non-removable.

Software
