4. Decision Framework

Key Questions for Buyers:

  1. What is your budget? If your budget is very limited, the Xiaomi Poco M3 will be better.
  2. What do you prioritize most: battery life or performance and display quality? If long battery life is essential, Poco M3 might be better. If performance and display are more important, go for the Realme GT Neo2.
  3. What will be your primary use cases? If mainly using for light tasks, the Poco M3 suffices. But, if you do gaming, photography or consume a lot of media, the Realme GT Neo2 is better.

Scenario-Based Recommendations:

  • Scenario 1: Tight Budget, Basic Needs: Choose the Xiaomi Poco M3.
  • Scenario 2: Gaming, Media Consumption, and Performance: Choose the Realme GT Neo2.
  • Scenario 3: Long Battery Life Priority: Choose the Xiaomi Poco M3. However, consider the compromises in performance, display and camera features, and only choose this phone if those other factors are not a priority.
  • Scenario 4: Balanced Performance and Features: Choose the Realme GT Neo2 for a much better experience overall, at a higher price point.

My Choice

If I were choosing between these two phones, I would pick the Realme GT Neo2.

Reasoning:

Despite the Xiaomi Poco M3's bigger battery, the Realme GT Neo2 provides a vastly superior user experience across almost every other significant aspect. The Snapdragon 870 chipset is leagues ahead, offering a much smoother experience in everyday usage, and it also future-proofs the phone for a few years. The AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate is a night and day difference from the IPS LCD screen on the Poco M3. This superior display leads to an enjoyable experience when consuming content, as well as smooth scrolling throughout the operating system. The Realme GT Neo2’s faster charging is also a great convenience, and it offers a more modern camera system and features. While the battery is smaller, the 65W charging will ensure the phone is ready to go when needed. For me, the gains in performance, display, camera, and other features significantly outweigh the trade-off of a slightly smaller battery.
