Key Questions for Buyers:
- How important is performance for my typical usage? (Gaming, multitasking, demanding apps)

- Are wireless charging, future software updates, and a telephoto lens important to me?
Scenario-Based Recommendations:
- Scenario 1: Gaming and performance are crucial: Choose the Xiaomi 12T Pro for its significantly more powerful chipset, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
- Scenario 2: High-quality photos and fast charging are priorities: Choose the Xiaomi 12T Pro due to its superior 200MP camera and 120W fast charging.
- Scenario 3: You need good battery life and reverse wireless charging is a must: Choose the Samsung Galaxy S21+ 5G for its ability to charge other devices wirelessly, despite slower overall charging.
- Scenario 4: A brighter display, telephoto lens and better scratch-resistant screen is a must: Choose the Samsung Galaxy S21+ 5G despite it being older and with worse performance.
My Choice
If I had to choose between these two phones, I would choose the Xiaomi 12T Pro.
Here's why:
While the Samsung Galaxy S21+ 5G has a brighter screen, wireless charging and slightly more robust software support, the performance and camera gap is too significant to ignore. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 on the Xiaomi 12T Pro offers a much more fluid experience, and the 200MP camera offers a versatility that the Samsung cannot match. The 120W fast charging is also a massive benefit for someone on the go. While I appreciate the wireless charging on the Samsung, its 25W charging is slow.
For my typical use cases (some gaming, social media, photos and videos), the Xiaomi 12T Pro aligns better with my needs. Also, the added 12GB RAM for the Xiaomi can greatly enhance the multitasking performance, which is a must for a power user. The improved camera performance is a big plus too and it does not come at the cost of battery life.
In short, while the S21+ 5G is not bad, the Xiaomi 12T Pro is a much more modern and well-rounded device that excels in the areas most important to me.
