My Choice
If I were choosing between these two phones, I would choose the Google Pixel 9. While the Realme GT 5G offers a tempting advantage in charging speed, the Google Pixel 9 provides a more well-rounded experience that aligns with my priorities. My main reasons for selecting the Pixel 9 are:
Superior Camera System: The Pixel 9's camera is significantly better, and given that photos and videos are important to me, this would be the biggest deciding factor. The larger sensor, wider aperture and features like OIS and HDR video recording all provide better results, especially in challenging conditions. The detailed DxOMark scores also give a clear indication of its superior performance.
Software Experience and Updates: I prioritize having the latest Android software and updates for improved performance, features and security. The Pixel 9 offers this, while the Realme GT 5G is already a few versions behind.
- Modern features: The Pixel 9 has wireless charging which I find very convenient and reverse wireless charging is also a good feature to have for on the go charging for wireless accessories. The Pixel 9 also supports WiFi 6, and a newer Bluetooth standard.
- Overall Balance: The Pixel 9 has a slightly larger battery capacity (though it does charge slower), and combined with the more efficient chip it will likely have better battery endurance. Its superior GPS, additional sensors and better camera system makes it the most well rounded phone here, in my opinion.
While the Realme GT 5G is appealing due to its fast charging and lower cost, I believe the Pixel 9 offers a more modern and user-friendly experience, making it a better long-term investment for me.
