4. Decision Framework
Key Questions for Buyers:
- Display Quality: Is having the sharpest display and brightest screen a priority for you? Or is a good enough display sufficient?
- Camera Needs: Do you often use telephoto zoom? Do you take a lot of selfies and ultrawide photos, particularly in low light?
- Battery & Charging: How important is all-day battery life and the convenience of faster charging? Do you value wireless charging?
Scenario-Based Recommendations:
- Scenario 1: Outdoor Photography & Media Consumption: If you prioritize outdoor visibility and high-quality media consumption, and often use a telephoto zoom, the Oppo Find X3 Pro is the better choice.
- Scenario 2: Selfie Lover & Budget-Conscious: If you prioritize selfie quality, battery life, value the newest technology, and prefer faster charging, the vivo V30 is the better option.
- Scenario 3: All Rounder with Good Battery and Screen: If the user wants a good balance of screen quality and battery life, the vivo V30 is a great option, but the Oppo Find X3 Pro is acceptable in this scenario too. The Find X3 Pro will have a better experience in a lot of situations due to it's higher quality screen but the battery life will be worse.
My Choice
If I had to choose between these two phones, I would choose the Oppo Find X3 Pro. While the vivo V30 is newer and has a better selfie camera and battery life, the Oppo's significantly sharper and brighter display and the addition of the telephoto lens are more important to me. Also, I value features like wireless charging and the premium audio experience. While it is a 3 year old phone, it's specifications still stack up with the upper-mid range phones today. The unknown screen protection and lack of pedometer on the vivo V30 are also slight drawbacks. The Find X3 Pro also includes a pedometer which I would also make use of.
