Scenario-Based Recommendations:

  • Scenario 1: Gaming and Performance - If gaming and smooth multitasking are priorities, the OnePlus 9 is the better choice due to its more powerful chipset and GPU.
  • Scenario 2: Multimedia Consumption and Innovation - If you want a unique, versatile device for media consumption and don't mind a mid range chipset and an inferior camera, the ZTE nubia Flip with its foldable screen is ideal.
  • Scenario 3: Photography - The OnePlus 9 offers a better main camera, wide-angle, B&W lens, and high-quality video recording for photography and video enthusiasts.
  • Scenario 4: Battery - If you don't mind a slower charging speed but would like reverse wireless charging and a large storage base the ZTE nubia Flip may be a better option.

My Choice

If I were choosing between these two phones, I would personally pick the OnePlus 9. While the foldable form factor of the ZTE nubia Flip is interesting, my priorities lean towards performance and camera quality, which the OnePlus 9 offers in spades. The significantly brighter screen of the OnePlus 9 makes it much more usable in various conditions. The better audio with Dolby Atmos is also a significant advantage. Although the OnePlus 9 is an older model, its higher benchmark scores and superior features make it a better choice for my needs, even at a potentially similar price. The better screen protection provided by the Gorilla Glass is also something I would value in my daily driver.
