    • Users who need higher amounts of local storage for media

Price-to-Value Ratio:

  • The OnePlus 9 will likely offer better value for users who prioritize performance and camera capabilities, especially if found at a discounted price due to its age.
  • The Realme 12 Pro might be a better option for those who prioritize battery life, optical zoom, a more recent software version, and potentially a more affordable price in the current market.

4. Decision Framework

Key Questions to Consider:

  1. Do you prioritize raw processing power and gaming performance, or battery life and zoom capabilities?
  2. Do you need wireless charging and 8k video, or telephoto capabilities and the latest Android software version?
  3. Is a brighter screen important for outdoor visibility?

Scenario-Based Recommendations:

  • Scenario 1: Power User/Gamer: If your primary use case is gaming, demanding applications, or professional video creation, the OnePlus 9 is the better choice because of its superior chipset and display.
  • Scenario 2: Photography Enthusiast: If optical zoom and good battery life are priorities, the Realme 12 Pro is better due to its telephoto lens and larger battery.
  • Scenario 3: Everyday User: If you are looking for an all-around phone with good performance, decent battery life, and modern features, the Realme 12 Pro would likely fit better due to the new software and storage capacity.

My Choice

If I were choosing, I would lean towards the OnePlus 9. While the Realme 12 Pro offers compelling features such as a telephoto lens and a larger battery, the significantly better performance of the OnePlus 9 is more important to me personally. I prioritize a snappy and responsive user experience, and the Snapdragon 888 chipset will provide that for longer than the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. Additionally, the brighter display of the OnePlus 9 would be very useful to me in outdoor usage scenarios, and the 8K Video mode and wireless charging would be beneficial for my personal use case. I'm also less reliant on telephoto zoom features, and so the OnePlus 9's superior processing power, higher brightness display, and excellent camera hardware is more attractive to me, and I can live without the telephoto lens, larger battery and newer OS of the Realme 12 Pro.
