Final Decision

If I had to choose, I would go with the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max. While the Nokia X30 offers a more lightweight design, a smoother refresh rate, and potentially better battery life, my primary needs are high performance and excellent camera capabilities. As someone who appreciates a premium display for media consumption, and often takes photos and videos on the go, the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s more powerful processor, stunning display, and superior camera system (including the optical zoom) provide an experience that the Nokia X30 simply cannot match. Although the Nokia X30 has the advantage of newer bluetooth codec support and fast charging, these are secondary considerations in my use-case. The extra weight is a reasonable tradeoff for the superior performance and overall better user experience that the iPhone 12 Pro Max provides for my use.
